It looks like the Memphis Grizzlies will be disappointing next season...according to a writer from Bleacher Report.
After signing Chandler Parsons and drafting Wade Baldwin IV and Deyonta Davis, another member of the national media has no faith in the Grizzlies for the upcoming season. This time it’s Ric Bucher.
In a video posted by Bleacher Report, Bucher believes Conley and Parsons will fail to live up to the expectations that come with their high-dollar contracts. That’s not all, however. Bucher also thinks Marc Gasol will not be the same player coming back from his foot injury. He went on to say that Gasol wasn’t the “Marc Gasol we’re used to seeing before he got hurt.”
He uses other reasons to formulate his opinion: The Grizzlies have a lack of athleticism, lack of speed, lack of perimeter shooting. Bucher thinks Memphis did not do enough this offseason to solidify themselves as a contender for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies had a terrific offseason, despite the analysis from Bucher. Memphis drafted two young players with a lot of potential, they took a calculated risk on Parsons (that teams like Portland were also willing to take), and they bolstered their bench with Troy Daniels and James Ennis.
Last season, the Grizzlies made the playoffs by using 28 different players. Let’s be honest, Parsons is a tremendous upgrade over Jeff Green. If they can’t make the playoffs with this group, then I’ll shake Bucher’s hand through Twitter.
