Basketball season is approaching. The month of September means that training camp is around the corner, and the Memphis Grizzlies announced today that the team will hold its 2016 Training Camp at FedExForum from Sept. 27 - Oct. 2.
Before beginning training camp opens, Memphis will hold their annual Media Day on Monday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at FedExForum with coaches, players, and select members of the front office.
Dating back to 2001, this will be the 10th time the Grizzlies have held their training camp in Memphis since relocating from Vancouver. The Grizzlies have hosted camp in Barcelona, Spain (2003), Malaga, Spain (2007), Birmingham, Ala. (2009), Nashville, Tenn. (2013), San Diego, Calif. (2014), and Santa Barbara, Calif. (2015).
Instead of the annual Open Practice at FedExForum, on October 1, the Grizzlies will host a Blue and White scrimmage. This full-team scrimmage will allow fans a first look at new head coach David Fizdale and newcomers Chandler Parsons, Wade Baldwin IV, and Deyonta Davis. Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen are also expected to play.
At the conclusion of training camp, the Grizzlies will begin their six-game preseason schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 3 against the Orlando Magic at FedExForum, followed by two more home preseason contests against the Atlanta Hawks (Oct. 6) and Philadelphia 76ers (Oct. 11).
