There is something truly powerful about this weekend in Memphis.
A day of unbelievable sadness years ago has become a day of solemn remembrance and service to others. The Grizzlies organization's scheduled events are just some example of the tremendous work that the Memphis community at large does to make Martin Luther King Jr. Day stay true to its meaning in the Midsouth. The annual game at FedExForum is a part of the festivities, but at the heart of the event is the call to serve, to heed the message of Dr. King and to continue to pursue unity in a world more divided than it has been in decades.
Basketball is great. The Memphis Grizzlies vs. the Chicago Bulls should be a fun game to watch, for lovers of old school basketball. But today, we remember the Dream...and how we should keep it alive always.
