Grizzlies vs. Wizards GameThread

Tonight, the bench must step up.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

There is a massive advantage to having one guaranteed and one potential Hall of Famer on your bench.

Vince Carter (the sure thing) and Zach Randolph (his numbers say he is, but he may not make it in) are both in the twilight of their careers, but are tseeing success in Memphis at the moment as bench players. Randolph in particular, who has been as professional as one could expect after being benched, has thrived. There are several worthy candidates to this point in the season for Sixth Man of the Year, and while Zach may not be on the top of that list, he is on the list.

These two, along with Troy Daniels and James Ennis, must have great games tonight if Memphis hopes to knock off Washington. The Wizards starters have been tremendous, but their bench is inexperienced and is still finding their way in the NBA.

The veterans must rule the day.
