Memphis won one Friday night against the Kings and then lost one Saturday night against the Houston Rockets 119-95. Defensively, the Grizzlies were not good, but the offense was just as bad if not worse. They struggled in the pick and roll and the fastbreak as the Rockets beat the Grizzlies.
Here are tonight’s grades:
Marc Gasol: B+
The team might not have the best night but “Big Spain” still has his three point stroke. He scored 32 points and came away with 5 rebounds and 1 assist. No A’s in blowout losses, though.
Zach Randolph: B
Randolph came away with a near double double with 11 points and 8 rebounds. He was abused on defense, though.
Mike Conley: B
Conley went to the rim, to the three point line and back again. He was 3-8 from deep. Conley came away with 15 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Chandler Parsons: C+
Not a good night for Chandler Parsons as far as percentages but he scored 12 points along with 4 assists and 2 rebounds. He is looking better.
Whole Team: D
The Grizzlies as a whole reacted the wrong way on defense. JaMychal Green hustled for rebounds along with Zach Randolph. Andrew Harrison finally has a three point shot in the NBA even though he was 1-4. Vince Carter kept getting to the free throw line, and Tony Allen kept the pressure on with three steals. The whole team struggled defensively.
Dave Fizdale: C
Dave Fizdale’s plan resting Parsons was not a good idea in my opinion. Tony Allen as a backup point guard, not a good idea either. Fizdale needs to get the team together and figure out a plan. Fizdale and the Grizzlies are on a up and down run. Hopefully the loss at home can motivate the Grizzlies and get them going again.
