Being the leaders of any organization means taking the brunt of the blame.
It is you out at the forefront. It is you dictating identity and direction. When things are good, you are looked at as the reason for success.
So when things go poorly? A good leader accepts responsibility.
I have said several times the past few days that it is easy to blame Chandler Parsons for the issues of Memphis. It is borderline lazy. There are larger issues at play, and they start at the top of the roster with the leaders of the Grizzlies- Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. It is time for them to step up, to play to their capabilities. If Conley is truly healthy (it is possible he isn't, he did come back early from a broken back), he has to play like he isn't afraid of contact. If Gasol is truly the best big in the NBA, he must be that guy on defense as well as offense.
A lot is expected of them. But that is the price of leadership.
