Zaza Pachulia has more Fan Votes than Marc Gasol

The NBA released its first returns of fan votes for the 2017 NBA All-Star game

The NBA released its first returns of All-Star from the fans and it doesn’t look good for the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to the release, Zaza Pachulia has 439,675 votes from fans around the world, which is more than DeMarcus Cousins, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, Draymond Green, and, yes, Marc Gasol.

Pachulia has the entire country of Georgia behind him to go along with the entire Golden State Warrior fan base.

But let’s be honest, Golden State’s starting center is far from All-Star material.

Marc Gasol is currently slotted 10th in Frontcourt voting with just over 97,000 votes. The good news is that the fan vote only accounts for 50 percent of the vote, while the media and players account for the rest. But Gasol has a long way to go if he wants to take a trip to New Orleans in February.

Despite the first round of returns, Gasol deserves to be an All-Star. Before the season, the NBA world was worried was not going to be the same player because of his foot injury, and it turns out they were right. Gasol has been better and has been a border-line MVP candidate while leading Memphis in several categories.

Mike Conley and Gasol deserve an All-Star trip, it’s time to make it happen.
