The Memphis Hustle officially announced their training camp roster yesterday. The Hustle media day begins today at 3 p.m. at FedExForum with camp officially starting tomorrow morning. The Hustle will likely have much less drama than the Grizz camp did, but will still be interesting to see how it plays out.
The Hustle will be headlined by the Grizzlies two-way players Kobi Simmons and Vince Hunter. Both figure to get their fair share of minutes playing down in Southaven this season. The Hustle have also brought in former Memphis Tigers Trahson Burrell and Austin Nichols. Burrell was acquired via trade from the Long Island Nets where he averaged 13 points and nearly 7 rebounds a game. Meanwhile, Austin Nichols will look to revitalize his career which took a turn for the worse after being kicked off the University of Virginia basketball team. The training camp roster also includes former Grizz training camp roster participant Jeremy Morgan. The only other notable name on the roster is former Kentucky guard Marquise Teague and former Cincinnati forward Shaq Thomas.
The rest of the Hustle roster is compiled of lesser known G-League talent and a couple of local tryout players. The Hustle will attract fans this season with the acquisition of the former Memphis Tigers and the popular two-way players to go along with their awesome uniforms they revealed last week.
The Hustle will have a preseason game visiting the Lakeland Magic on October 30th before having their regular season, and home opener, on November 4th against the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
