After a forgettable start of the game, the Grizzlies came from behind and had a two point lead near the end of the third quarter. The Celtics went on a run at the start of the fourth quarter and Memphis could never get back in the game. Rebounding was an issue.
Time for grades.
Marc Gasol: A
30 points, 10 rebounds in 33 minutes (-8)
Gasol went off in the third quarter with 21 of his 30 points. His explosion was fun to watch. He was in a zone during the Grizzlies' run and put his team up two at the end of the third. He had a quiet fourth quarter, though, where he did not make a field goal.
Tyreke Evans: A
25 points, 5 assists in 38 minutes (+9)
Evans continues to show up every night. He had four triples and successfully attacked the basket. He has been the most consistent player for the Grizzlies this season and his numbers have gone up since Mike Conley got hurt.
Dillon Brooks: B
14 points in 34 minutes (+5)
Brooks was cooking from distance last night. He was 4 of 5 from the perimeter and had 8 points in the fourth quarter that kept the Grizzlies in the game. The rookie is playing solid this season but one wonders if his minutes are not way too many.
Jarell Martin, Deyonta Davis, Kobi Simmons: C
No Grizzly other than Gasol, Evans and Brooks was in double figures scoring last night. Jarell Martin, Deyonta Davis and Kobi Simmons were a big part of the Memphis' run in the second quarter. Martin and Davis had emphatic dunks and Simmons brought a lot of energy.
Rest of the team: D
JaMychal Green had 7 points and 8 rebounds but he needs to bring more to the table. The point guards, Andrew Harrison and Mario Chalmers, struggled with his shooting. James Ennis III and Ben McLemore went unnoticed. The Grizzlies need their role players to show up. Look at how Rozier, Baynes and Smart played for the Celtics last night.
