I have always wanted to produce a series of posts about the old days of the Memphis Grizzlies.
From the Pyramid and “Big Country” to the beginnings of “Grit and Grind” and everything inbetween, assembling an oral history of the Grizz has always been a passion project for me. Especially since I became GBB’s Site Manager last Summer, this was a goal of mine- to find a way to start the process of documenting the story of Memphis and their Grizzlies, and how they came to be.
We are ready to start.
Today we announce the start of a new GBB video series “Moments in Grizz-tory.” I’ll allow Mark King, GBB Video Content Editor and my main partner in the process, to explain how we need your help to make this a reality.
We are always trying to figure out new ways to tell stories about the Memphis Grizzlies, and we here to introduce a whole new video series. The newest mini series from Grizzly Bear Blues will be an oral history of some of the greatest moments in Grizzlies history featuring you, the fans! Yes, we want you to be involved in our newest video mini series about the Memphis Grizzlies.
How does it work?
The concept of the video is simple- we are going to re-tell some of the greatest moments in Grizzlies history. We are going to re-live the Courtney Lee buzzer beaters, the 2011 playoffs, that triple overtime game against the Spurs, and everything in between. Best of all, we are going to do it together. Everyone has their own experience and each person, family or couple experiences the game a certain way. Some people are in the arena, some are out of town, some are staying up super late to watch from a different country.
How do I get involved?
Starting Monday February 20th, we will make a post about the next great moment that we will be talking about, and all that you have to do is record yourself telling us how you lived that moment. Where you at home watching on TV? Were you in the arena court side? Were you in the terrace level? At a party with friends? Whatever the situation, we want to hear from you. You can record your video by yourself, with friends, with your spouse, with your family, anyway that you want! Be creative, and tell us ALL the details that happened when you were watching your favorite team. Did you cry? Did you get mad? Don’t leave any detail out, we want to hear it all!
Once you’ve recorded your video you can email it to GrizzlyBearBluesVideo@gmail.com or submit it to Dropbox using this link- https://www.dropbox.com/request/SZlOUylgKVdeu9XkEEyK
Some video tips:
1. Try to record in a quiet environment. Try to avoid the dogs barking in the background if you can.
2. Keep it simple. Recording on your smart phone is absolutely acceptable!
3. Record in landscape mode. Turn that phone on it’s side.
4. Start recording, count to three and then start talking. This gives a few seconds to edit the video with.
5. TELL US YOUR NAME! Make sure you tell us who you are so we can put that in the video!
6. Most of all, have fun, be creative and tell us your story!
Be on the lookout for the first topic coming out on Monday! Thanks to Mark for helping me make this a reality, and thanks in advance to you for being a part of our “Moments in Grizz-tory” series!
