Lineup Notes

The Grizzlies started Green/Gasol/Conley/Carter/Allen. Having secured the seventh seed on Friday, they were content to DNP-rest Zach Randolph. But fashion doesn’t take days off.

Game Story

Mike Conley led the Grizz out of the gate with 9 quick points on 4-5 shooting. Gasol added 13 in the second period to help break a 41-41 tie and build a 9-point halftime lead. (He would not play the second half.)

The wheels fell off the wagon in the third quarter, with the Grizzlies committing 9 turnovers while scoring just 10 points. Detroit capitalized, raining in 5 triples in the third to build a 9-point lead, and holding off a fourth quarter run by the Grizzlies’ young guns to seal the victory – their first win in 7 attempts at FedExForum.

Thirteen Grizzlies scored in this one, but not very much. Conley, Gasol, and Green led the team with 15, 13, and 12, respectively. Detroit shot 14-of-28 from downtown, well above their season average.

Thanks for Reading, Y’all

This is my last post for GBB after three and a half great years. It’s been a pleasure working under Joe and Chris, alongside a large roster of seriously good basketball writers. I’ll be manning @sbnGrizzlies on Wednesday night as the Grizz close out the season – my final broadcast for GBB. See y’all then.
