The Memphis Grizzlies will introduce guards Mario Chalmers, Tyreke Evans and Ben McLemore at a 2:30 p.m. press conference tomorrow, August 29 in the Grand Lobby inside FedExForum, according to a press release from the team. The press conference will be streamed live on Grizzlies.com.
Chalmers re-signed with the team after rupturing his achilles tendon in a Grizzlies uniform in March 2016 and averages 9 points per game in his 11 years in the league. He was the starting point guard for the Miami Heat side that won back-to-back championship rings with LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade before being traded to the Grizzlies in November 2015.
Tyreke Evans, a small forward and shooting guard out of the University of Memphis is a ten-year veteran of the NBA having spent most of his time in Sacramento.
“We are excited for Tyreke Evans to return to the city of Memphis and FedExForum, where he enjoyed so much success as a member of the Memphis Tigers,” General Manager Chris Wallace said upon the announcement that Evans would sign with the Grizzlies. “Tyreke has proven his talent throughout his NBA career as both a scorer and playmaker, and we are pleased to add a player of his versatility to the Grizzlies.”
Ben McLemore, a four-year shooting guard out of the University of Kansas also arrives from Sacramento. In his 293 games, he averages 9.4 PPG, 2.6 RPG and 1.2 APG.
Of McLemore’s signing, Wallace said “Ben brings tremendous athleticism, significant upside and a tireless work ethic to our franchise, while adding more outside shooting to our rotation. We are confident he will continue his development as a player and thrive under head coach David Fizdale and his staff.”
