Welp, it looks like Tony Allen is moving on from the Grizzlies. The Vertical’s Shams Charania broke the news of Tony Allen finalizing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Grizz Nation has known this moment was inevitable for awhile now, but no one wanted to see it happen. The Grindfather is officially moving on to the next chapter of his career.
Tony Allen was a major part of the tough, gritty culture Memphis basketball has cultivated over its current run. TA brought the Grit N Grind slogan to the city of Memphis that will be ingrained with the Grizzlies forever. He brought this identity to the team that translated to many years of success.
The first thoughts are that it will be an interesting fit in New Orleans as they will still be getting an All-NBA defender even at his older age. The building chemistry between Boogie Cousins and Anthony Davis will be something to enjoy over the early months of the season.
However, this story won’t be about TA’s fit with New Orleans. The real story will be a tribute to his Grizzlies career for everything he has given to the city of Memphis. Thank you TA, you will be missed.
