The wait is finally over. Restricted free agent JaMychal Green has a new deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. This deal comes just days before the start of training camp. Green reportedly agreed to a 2-year, $17 million deal, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania and other media outlets.

Grizzlies Nation have been waiting a while for this deal to be completed. Everyone assumed JaM would be back with the Grizzlies, but no one thought it would take this long. It had been a relatively quiet summer for the two sides so question marks kept coming up.

Being the last major RFA, this deal seals Green up for two years which is very key for the future of this Grizzlies roster. It eliminates the possibility of him becoming an unrestricted free agent at the end of next year. This secures Green for Memphis without him going into an open market.

The two-year deal is a good deal for both sides. It gives the Grizzlies flexibility after two years depending on Green’s performance. The value is right around market value, as well.

As for this year, Green should be the starting 4 come Opening Night. He will try and improve from his 8.9 pts 7.1 rebounds stat line from last year. With the departure of Zach Randolph, JaM will be called on to fill some of that void left.
