An MRI on Sunday has revealed that Tyreke Evans suffered cartilage damage to his rib cage and is considered day-to-day, Michael Wallace of Grind City Media (the media group associated with the Memphis Grizzlies) reported Monday.
Evans suffered the injury in the 4th quarter of last Thursday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He would go on to miss the rest of that game, and Saturday’s 115-89 loss against the Miami Heat.

The team had already announced on Sunday that Evans would miss Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics, but as he’s simply listed as day-to-day, his status for future games is uncertain at this time. Tyreke had already missed 7 games in the past 5 weeks as he’s battled an illness and was sent home from the team as they pursued trade options leading up to the NBA trade deadline.
Before the injury, Tyreke Evans was averaging 19.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 5.1 APG on .453/.396/.797 shooting splits. Memphis is 0-8 in games where Tyreke Evans does not play.
