Report card: Memphis at Orlando

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed character against the Magic.

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

With several players out due to injury and in the second night of a back to back, the Grizzlies had a good performance against Orlando despite losing the game down the stretch. Jarell Martin, Ben McLemore and JaMychal Green led the way.

Time for grades!

Jarell Martin: B+

19 points, 11 rebounds in 35 minutes (-4)

Martin was a force against the Magic. His improvement in perimeter shooting and rebounding ability make him a force to be reckoned with. He is averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds over the last three games.

Ben McLemore: B+

20 points, 7 rebounds in 38 minutes (+3)

McLemore delivered last night, shooting the ball consistently (8 for 14 from the floor including 2 for 5 from downtown). Performances like this are what we all wanted to see from him this season on a regular basis.

JaMychal Green: B+

10 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists in 37 minutes (-8)

Green did a bit of everything last night and showcased his passing skills. His shot was not there, though (2 for 12). He played the center position in the absence of Marc Gasol and did a decent job on Vucevic despite the size difference.

Kobi Simmons: B

14 points, 2 assists in 20 minutes (-8)

Simmons impressed last night with a career-high in points. He brought a spark from the bench with multiple ways to score the basket. He looked like a solid backup point guard.

Mario Chalmers: B

15 points, 3 assists in 28 minutes (+3)

Chalmers had his best game in a while. He was accurate from the perimeter (3 for 6) and had no turnovers. He went to the locker room in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Ivan Rabb: C

5 points, 4 rebounds in 15 minutes (+3)

Rabb showed his mid-range game and hustle on the boards. He was in foul trouble for the majority of the game, though. It feels like he has potential to be a reliable rotation player in the future.

Dillon Brooks: D

9 points in 37 minutes (-14)

Brooks struggled against the Magic. His shooting percentages have been declining since the All Star break (from 45 per cent to 32 per cent).

Chandler Parsons: D

4 points in 13 minutes (-3)

Parsons looked rusty in his return. He only played first half minutes and went for 2 for 6 from the floor.
