Grit and Grind is all you need to know about this kid.

With the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Jevon Carter out of West Virginia.

This is a bit of a reach with the second pick of the night. However, it is a good match with the team identity of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jevon Carter is a prospect that had fallen a bit over the past week. He came in to Memphis for a workout last week, so I am sure the front office was intrigued by him during that process. In his post workout interview, you could tell very quick that he is going to fight his way on to an NBA roster. And, he gets that chance with the Grizzlies

Carter is 6’2” point guard who scored 17.3 points and 6.6 assists a game with the Mountaineers. This guy is the perfect fit to a Memphis team. He is all grit and all grind. He is the definition of tough. He is experienced and is a great defender to guard and fight against anyone he is matched up against.

He will need to develop an offensive game to contribute both ways. He sizes up shorter than most NBA guards out there, so this will be something to note right away. It will be interesting to see if Carter can find an offensive rhythm. However, above all else, his impact on the defensive end cannot be stated enough.

Carter pairs nicely next to Jaren Jackson Jr. as the new guys to come in and raise the competition. If there are no other moves, the front office actually has done a decent job tonight. We will see how these players can come in and impact the team.

Carter is the perfect guy for this city and team culture. He will be an instant fan favorite who will hopefully come in off the bench to give solid gritty minutes this team lacked last year.
