NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Davidson Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 GBB Community Mock NBA Draft is under way! The draft is continuing through our Twitter account @sbngrizzlies if you want to follow it there as it develops. We are recapping picks here at GBB from now until draft week, and we have arrived at #11 overall with the Charlotte Hornets and their mock GM, Brandon Abraham (@bcabraham).

Now, a review of where we are in the draft. Check out this link to catch up on trade/pick explanations in our mock.

  1. Phoenix Suns- Deandre Ayton, center, University of Arizona
  2. Boston Celtics via Sacramento Kings- Luka Doncic, guard/forward, Real Madrid
  3. Atlanta Hawks- Jaren Jackson Jr., forward/center, Michigan State University
  4. Philadelphia 76ers via Memphis Grizzlies- Michael Porter Jr., forward, University of Missouri
  5. Dallas Mavericks- Marvin Bagley III, forward, Duke University
  6. Orlando Magic- Trae Young, guard, University of Oklahoma
  7. Chicago Bulls- Collin Sexton, guard, University of Alabama
  8. Cleveland Cavaliers via Brooklyn Nets- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, guard, University of Kentucky
  9. New York Knicks - Mikal Bridges, forward, Villanova University
  10. Memphis Grizzlies via Philadelphia (Rights traded to Sacramento)- Mohamed Bamba, center, University of Texas.

With the 11th pick in the 2018 GBB Community Mock NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Wendell Carter Jr., forward/center, Duke University.

Some value here at #11 overall. Here is Brandon on the pick-

Carter was easily the highest ranked player on my board at 11. Being compared to Al Horford isn’t the sexiest comparison, but the Hornets could use someone like Carter once they get rid of their bad contracts. Carter won’t be rushed in to play until he is ready, and can earn his keep competing with Marvin Williams and Dwight Howard. Carter, plus a likely lottery pick next year, will be the future cornerstones of the Hornets and should thrive under James Borrego.

So Carter stays in North Carolina to start his mock NBA career.

Stay tuned, back-to-back picks from the L.A. Clippers are coming soon as the GBB Community Mock NBA Draft rolls on!
