The Memphis Grizzlies season is almost here. Let’s look at what the Grizzlies have accomplished this offseason.
Item #1: Size down low...
The Grizzlies currently have five rotatable bigs on the roster. With the addition of Jaren Jackson Jr., Ivan Rabb, and Dakari Johnson, the Grizzlies have skilled defensive bigs.
Marc Gasol knows how to pass, get into the post, defend and shoot the three. JaMychal Green can defend, shoot the corner three, rebound, and slash to the rim. Rabb can hit from mid-range jumper, pass, rebound and defend. We also seen Jackson score from the post, slash, shoot the three, and defend. The only big only questionable on the roster is Dakari Johnson. We will see what he can bring after a few games.
Item #2: Backup Point Guard
Although Jevon Carter is injured at the moment, he still makes a better backup solution than Andrew Harrison or Kobi Simmons. Carter’s defensive ability to get steals and his shooting makes him the best second option under Mike Conley. Although there are rumors he may go to the Hustle. At least the Grizzlies have options.
Item #3: Leaders on the Wing
With the addition of Kyle Anderson, Omri Casspi, and Garrett Temple the Grizzles have wings that can score, pass and defend. If you add Dillion Brooks, MarShon Brooks, and Chandler Parsons, the Grizzlies have wing depth for the season.
Are all of the pieces there on paper? Yes! Are they ready to be a team? That remains to be seen. The Grizzlies have the players and momentum. Are they ready to take the next step? We will find out this season.
