Earlier today Memphis Hustle play-by-play analyst Jon Roser dropped a RosBomb on twitter announcing the Grizzlies have agreed to a training camp deal with Doral Moore, a center out of Wake Forest.
#NEWS Grizzlies have agreed to a training camp deal w/ Doral Moore. Moore is listed at 7'1'' 280lbs. He played three seasons at Wake Forest. Moore averaged 11.1ppg, 9.4rpg, and 2bpg last season. At 7’1” and 280 pounds, Moore is a big body down low for the organization. Moore is a long shot to actually make the Grizzlies roster, but seems in line to take Chance Comanche’s place on the Memphis Hustle roster. Comanche recently signed with the Serbian club Partizan Belgrade after spending his summer with the Orlando Magic.
After two quiet seasons at Wake Forest, Moore broke out his junior year to average 11.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. Moore shot an effective 65% from the field, with most of his baskets coming at the rim. You can see all of Moore’s 88 dunks last season in the highlight video below.
Moore will be a nice, big body to bruise down low with Marc Gasol, Jaren Jackson Jr., JaMychal Green and Dakari Johnson before he heads on down to Southaven. The Grizzlies do have one open two-way roster spot after waiving Kobi Simmons earlier this week. Moore would have to be extremely impressive to earn that contract, but the opportunity is there for Doral.
