Pay the Man!
ESPN’s Nick DePaula reports that Jaren Jackson Jr. has completed a multi-year sneaker and apparel deal with Nike.
Being a top-5 pick is going to pay off in big ways for Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr. It is exciting times for him and the city of Memphis getting another player to showcase the Nike brand.
I’m sure it was a battle between Nike, Puma, Adidas to get this top-5 pick. Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley both signed with Puma earlier on this summer and Trae Young signed with Adidas.
With the numbers still yet to be released, either way it looks to be a well-deserved, big pay day for the rookie. As we have seen from other superstars, the endorsement deals are where these athletes get the majority of the money.
Jackson is building a reputation and drawing the attention that many Grizzlies’ first round picks have not seen before. The spotlight will be on him in his rookie season. He should shine and only grow with this new found stardom.
This deal symbolizes the outside view of how much of an impact player he can become. The national media and big companies are taking note. JJJ is a bright spot for this Memphis franchise.
It is going to be incredibly exciting to see him grow over the next few years in Memphis. He showed what he can do in the summer league. Now, we will all get to see what he can do on the highest level.
