Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweeted tonight that the Grizzlies are sending MarShon Brooks, Wayne Selden Jr. and two second round picks to the Chicago Bulls for Justin Holiday.
Memphis is trading Marshon Brooks and Wayne Selden and two second-round picks to Chicago for Justin Holiday, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) January 4, 2019
Justin Holiday has been with the Chicago Bulls for the past few years where he was traded to from the New York Knicks. Holiday is a career 35% three point shooter, 2.5 rebounds, and just over an assist per game. He is the prototypical 3 and D player in the modern NBA. Justin Holiday is a bigger shooting guard at 6-6 and is able to defend multiple positions. He has been decent this year for the Bulls averaging just over 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.8 steals in 35 minutes per game.
Justin Holiday is on a expiring contract worth right around 4 million dollars this year and the Grizzlies are giving up two players that have been very inconsistent in MarShon Brooks and Wayne Selden Jr. in the trade. MarShon Brooks has not even been able to be on the court the last few weeks and has only gotten minutes in spot situations for the Grizzlies. The second round picks are a bit much to give up along with the two players, but it sounds like the Grizzlies were in a bidding war for Holiday.
The Grizzlies are probably not done dealing before the trade deadline arrives, in the short term, Justin Holiday is a player that can come in and help the Grizzlies right away.
