In a match-up of the last two undefeated teams in the G-League, the Hustle came out on top extending their winning streak to 7 games to start the season. The Red Claws were without last week’s G-League player of the week, Tremont Waters, who deservedly got a call up to the Celtics. Meanwhile, the Hustle had the benefit of Josh Jackson still being on assignment.

The Hustle jumped out to an early 9-2 lead on the Red Claws and didn’t look back. Josh Jackson led the way for the Hustle with 15 points in the quarter. The Hustle went 5-7 from beyond the arc in the quarter, helping them jump out to a 35-29 lead at the end of the first.

The Hustle were able to jump back out to a double digit lead early in the second quarter, as both Josh and Yuta kept the Hustle offense flowing. The Red Claws were able to respond to the Hustle run with a run of their own, cutting into the Hustle lead to make it a one possession game. The Red Claws were ultimately able to take their first lead over the Hustle since the opening basket of the game midway through the quarter. The Hustle and Red Claws exchanged leads throughout the majority of the quarter, with the Hustle ultimately wrapping up the first half with a 58-56 lead. Josh Jackson led the Hustle with 19 first half points and 4 steals, before finishing the quarter on the bench with a cut on his hand.

The Hustle forced 12 total turnovers in the first half, turning them into 21 points. Meanwhile, the Hustle had just 3 turnovers, resulting in just 4 points for the Red Claws. The Hustle have jumped out to double-digit leads when the Red Claws struggle to take care of the ball, but the Red Claws climb back into it once they settle down.

The Hustle were able to maintain their slim lead over the Red Claws in the early parts of the quarter as they were unable to pull away. Josh Jackson forced a few turnovers to help the Hustle go on a mini-run midway through the quarter, extending their lead to double-digits at the halfway point of the quarter. The Hustle, again, built their lead off of Red Claws turnovers ending the quarter on top 84-73.

The Hustle caught fire to start the 4th, jumping out to a 17 point lead. The Red Claws were able to cut into the lead some throughout the quarter, but couldn’t quite get the game back to single digits to make the Hustle nervous. Josh Jackson made a some big plays, including an obliterating block on Kaiser Gates to get the Hustle fans on their feet. When it was all said and done, the Hustle finished the night as the last undefeated team in the G-League following their 115-100 win over the Maine Red Claws.
