Just moments ago, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that Omri Casspi has a torn meniscus and will have surgery this week.
This is the last bit of news the Memphis Grizzlies needed, as Casspi has been a steady contributor off the bench. In 36 games played, he’s averaging 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds, while shooting 53.4 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from deep. Not to mention, he’s 3rd on the team in Offensive Rating (112), 5th in PER (16.0), and 2nd in True Shooting Percentage (60.6%).
Stats aside, Casspi has been a reliable bench piece that’s flashed an offensive arsenal that no one saw coming. Though he’s not the 3-point marksman he’s touted for, he’s one of the team’s best slashers and finishers in the paint.
Look for the Grizzlies to extend more minutes and another contract to 10-day player Bruno Caboclo in Casspi’s absence.
