The Memphis Grizzlies announced today that veteran forward CJ Miles is likely out for the remainder of the season.
It is sadly just another Memphis Grizzlies to go down for the season. Add C.J. to the list with Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, and Jaren Jackson Jr. as the latest Grizz to introduce himself to a suit on the bench.
For Memphis, C.J. was getting a shot to be that sharpshooter off the bench we have never really had. In his 13 games in Beale Street blue, Miles was averaging 22.6 minutes which is greater than his career average of 20.4. He was also posting around his career average in points and was shooting above his career average in 3 point percentage.
The acquisition of Miles gave the Grizzlies coaching staff an opportunity to get looks at a true small ball line up with him at the four, something the team should be working towards for the future. Now look for the likes of Tyler Dorsey to get more run as Memphis grinds toward the end of the season.
C.J. has a player option for next season, so while this will almost certainly be his last game for the Grizzlies this season, it is possible/likely it won't be his last ever.
