Dwight Howard’s stay in Memphis is officially over according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania:
Dwight Howard’s agent, Charles Briscoe of Briscoe Sports Group, has completed buyout with Grizzlies officials, and Howard will sign with the Lakers once he clears waivers, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

In an offseason deal made to save the Grizzlies new front office money, Dwight Howard was acquired from the Washington Wizards for CJ Miles. Howard was due to be owed $5 million this upcoming season.
The details of the buyout have not yet been released, but with his desire to play for a contender, it is likely that the buyout will save the Grizzlies more money.
Howard seems to be on his way to the Lakers to feel the void left by the DeMarcus Cousins injury this offseason.
With the added freedom below the tax line, the Grizzlies are in even better position to take back potential salary in any potential deal to move Andre Iguodala or the contracts of Solomon Hill or Miles Plumlee.
This buyout also cuts down one roster spot, leaving a need for two more cuts to be made.
Stay tuned with Grizzly Bear Blues, as this could be a potential domino for another move to take place.
