Earlier today the Memphis Hustle announced the schedule for the 2019-2020 season. The Hustle enter the 2019 season looking to improve upon their first ever playoff appearance and win from last season. With last season’s coach Brad Jones getting the promotion to Taylor Jenkins’ staff, Memphis brought back Jason March to be the Hustle’s 3rd coach in as many seasons.
With a majority of G-League players still trying to make NBA rosters, and eventually having to decide if they want to pursue more money overseas, the Hustle’s roster might not begin to take shape until October. The Hustle are guaranteed to have both Grizzlies two-way players, Yuta Watanabe and John Konchar, on the roster for at least some games this coming season. The Hustle will also likely have the services of Texas Tech star Matt Mooney, who the Grizzlies signed to an Exhibit 10 contract this past weekend, as well.
Even without a majority of the rosters set, here are a few of the big games to mark on the calendar for the Hustle next season.
The Hustle will kick off their 3rd season with a home and home with the Texas Legends. The season and home opener for the Hustle will be November 8th, with the Hustle traveling to Texas the following night.
The Hustle will have 24 home games, 24 away games and then 2 games at the G-League showcase. The Hustle will have 7 total back-to-backs, which is one higher than the league average on the season.
The Hustle will host their third-ever Financial Literacy Education Day Game on Thursday February 6th at 10:30 against the Oklahoma City Blue. All other promotional games, such as the Hustle and Hounds games, will be announced at a later date.
December figures to be the toughest month of the season, as they Hustle play 9 of their 10 games on the road, with two of those matchups against the defending G-League champs Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The schedule tilts a bit in January, where the Hustle will have a season long seven game home stand.
With interconference games at a premium in the G-League, the Hustle have a solid schedule. They’re set to visit the Greensboro Swarm (Charlotte) and College Park Skyhawks (Atlanta) for the first time. The Maine Red Claws (Boston) and Raptors 905 (Toronto) will make their first trips down to Southaven this season as well.
The Hustle will wrap up their season with a two game home stand on March 27th and 28th against the Northern Arizona Suns.
The Memphis Hustle social media team also deserves a shoutout for their adorable schedule reveal. It’s only fitting they used good boys and girls as part of their schedule reveal after spending the past week having fans send in pictures of their dogs to potentially be on next year’s version of the “Hustle and Hounds” jerseys. According to the Hustle, all of the dogs used in the promotional video are adoptable.
