Cue the Michael Scott gif.
The Memphis Grizzlies have recalled Josh Jackson from the NBA G League’s Memphis Hustle.— Grizzlies PR (@GrizzliesPR) January 27, 2020
Jackson has appeared in 26 games for the Hustle this season and has averaged 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.5 blocks.
Josh Jackson has been recalled, joining the big club. The Memphis Grizzlies host the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night before a Wednesday night tilt in the Big Apple. Jae Crowder and Grayson Allen both missed the win over the Suns, with Allen being announced as out for a few weeks just this morning.
While Jackson has been recalled, no word has been given on when he may make his debut. For this team, adding a wing with the physical talent of Josh Jackson in the middle of an unexpected playoff push could be the move needed to hang on to the eight spot without putting the future of the franchise at risk.
This could be a showcase for a potential trade or simply a byproduct of the current injuries at the wing position — either way, the much anticipated call up is here.
Jackson proved he was much too talented for the G League, dominating in all facets of the game. If he even begins to scratch at the potential that led him to being a #4 overall pick, this Grizzlies team becomes even more fun to watch. Last season in Phoenix, Jackson averaged 11.5 points 4.4 rebounds on 32% shooting from deep in 25 minutes per game. Let us not forget Phoenix was a train wreck his two years there, so hopefully a healthy locker room and franchise will be able to unlock a redeemed Josh Jackson.
