The Hustle got blown out at home in their first game in 8 days after getting a nice break for the NBA All-Star Break. It was an ugly game for the Hustle who didn’t seen ready for the Skyforce at all. You can check out my full recap here.
114.3: Going into last night’s matchup against the Skyforce, the Hustle led the G-League in offensive rating with a 114.3 rating on the season. The Hustle have been one of the more effective and efficient offensive teams this season in the G-League and the numbers clearly back it up.
2: The Hustle have two players who rank in the top 10 in total points in the G-League this season. Dusty Hannahs currently ranks second with 702 total points on the year while Jarrod Uthoff ranks fift with 643 points to his name. These two, along with the depth the Hustle have, are a main reason the Hustle offense has been so great this season.
MVP of the Week - No One
The Hustle played just one game this week and they stunk it up, so nobody gets awarded this week.
Week 15 Grade - D
The Hustle get a D for disappointing in their one game this week. They weren’t really that shorthanded and had 8 days off and seemed totally unprepared for the Skyforce. It was probably the worst the Hustle have looked all season long.
Week 16 Preview
Memphis Hustle @ Rio Grande Valley Vipers (11-23) 2/22 7 PM CT
Game 37 Preview: The Hustle get another extended break as they play just once over the next 7 days when they travel to Texas to face off against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. After winning the G-League championship last year, the Vipers roster has been mostly gutted and they’ve had a disappointing season so far with a record well below .500. Their leading scorers, Brandon Sampson and Jacobi Boykins both average less than 15 points per game. The matchup Saturday could end up being a tough one, though, for the Hustle as the Rockets have assigned Isaiah Hartenstein down to the Vipers as the Rockets are seemingly banning anybody on their roster taller than 6’8”. If Hartenstein is indeed available for the Vipers, he figures to be a tough matchup down low for Jarrod Uthoff and Nino Johnson. Hartenstein is talented, but the Hustle are way more talented overall and should be able to run away with this one, assuming Wednesday night was an anomaly.
