The Memphis Grizzlies are again gaining national recognition for their play in the month of January. Monday afternoon, the NBA announced that Grizzlies Head Coach Taylor Jenkins had been awarded Western Conference Coach of the Month for the month of January.

The first year Head Coach is getting national recognition for not only taking over the eighth seed in the Western Conference, but getting a solid lead. In January, Jenkins led the Grizzlies to have the third best record that month, shooting the second best field goal percentage, and scoring the third most points per game.

The Grizzlies went on both a seven-game winning streak, and then following two losses, started another four game winning streak. The Grizzlies reached the .500 mark before their short-handed loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on the final day of January.

The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Detroit Pistons tonight at FedEx Forum to start the month of February tonight at 7:00 P.M.
