Entering night number two of week two, Grizz Gaming would be looking to bounce back from a season debut that ended in a sweep. Taking on (Atlanta) Hawks Talon GC, would Grizz Gaming bounce back?
In the first quarter, Grizz Gaming and Hawks Talon GC got off to a back and fourth start. Vandi and Goofy continued their good rhythm with their pick and roll offense. Despite a solid start offensively, the Grizzlies defense couldn’t get on track as they’d trail 20-14 after one quarter.
Grizz Gaming would end up falling in game number one of their best of three series to the Hawks by a score of 74-63. Despite a late fourth quarter run by Grizz Gaming, the Grizz just couldn’t get close enough. It was a low scoring affair that showed no love to Grizz Gaming, as they just couldn’t find any offensive rhythm to get back into the game.
In the first quarter, you got the vibe that Grizz Gaming would be trending toward another loss. Turnovers, no transition offense, and no ball movement were warning signs. Trailing 11-4, Grizz gaming went on a 10-0 run in the final two minutes to tie the game a 14 all after one quarter.
Grizz Gaming’s biggest struggle throughout their first three games has not only been their inconsistencies defensively, but their turnover ratio. The Grizz had six turnovers in the first half to Hawks Talon’s one turnover. Following a tied score at the end of one, Grizz Gaming would trail 32-26 at the half.
The third quarter was definitely a better overall performance from Grizz Gaming. The ball movement was better, and led to more three point attempts. JRod was scorching in the third quarter, but despite the solid play from Grizz Gaming, Hawks Talon maintained their six point lead heading into the final frame of play in game two.
The fourth quarter would be a reset that took about 10 minutes. Once that reset took place, Vandi put Grizz Gaming on his back.
Grizz Gaming held Hawks Talon to 11 fourth quarter points, while dropping 19 in the final frame. Grizz Gaming would force a game three in this series with a win in game two by a score of 60-56.
Grizz Gaming and Atlanta Talon GC were tied up after one quarter, but after that first quarter, Atlanta Talon GC took off. Pushing the lead further and further each quarter, Grizz Gaming would fall in the final game of their series with Atlanta by a score of 75-57.
Grizz Gaming will be back in action for week three of 2K League action as they take on Heat Check Gaming Friday May 22nd.
