Week four recap:

It was an impressive showing from Grizz Gaming in week four of their 2K League season as Memphis secure their first win of the 2020 season. Consistent progression from Grizz Gaming led to that moment. “Every storm runs out of rain,” is way to look at the Grizz this season. From the opening week, where the Grizz took on the leagues two best teams, to the the next two weeks of soul searching and adjustments.

In the end? Grizz Gaming might have found their new defensive setup, which opens up their offense. Grizz guard Vandi shouldered most of the load on the offensive end through the first few weeks of the season. He dropped a lot of points for the offense, but also was the guy that pressed the defense after their made baskets. In 2K, having to orchestrate the offense then play lock down defense is tough.

For Vandi and Grizz Gaming, their sets on both ends cleared up when AuthenticAfr took the role that Vandi had on the defensive end of the floor, picking up the opposing guard on the opposing team full-court.

Then, two guys who needed to find their identity on this roster absolutely dominated. Grizz big man ‘Goofy’ went nuts in both games one and two against Lakers Gaming. In game one, Goofy had 10 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. He topped that with a triple double in game two (18 points, 18 boards, and 12 assists) along with being nominated for the NBA 2K League Player of the Week.

Another guy that had a solid showing was Grizz wingman ‘JRod.’ JRod had a rather quiet first game, but in game two found his stroke (similar to his breakout game two against the Kings). JRod dropped 31 points on 12/19 shooting (7/10 from 3PT).

Scouting the Enemy:

Grizz Gaming (1-4) will be taking on Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-2) tonight at 8:00 P.M. CT live on Twitch and Youtube. The Celtics are coming off of a rough loss to one of the better teams in the 2K League in Wizards District Gaming. For the Celtics, they are still trying to find stability this season.

Two games that were canceled due connection issues (will be made up at the end of the season) have the Celtics searching for their identity. This is a great opportunity for the Grizz to carry momentum into this game, and for the Celtics an equal opportunity to bounce back after a tough loss.

Matchup of the Night:

oFab vs. Vandi

Two very talented scoring point guards lead both teams into tonight’s game. For OFab, the Grizz Gaming defense will zone in on him due to the lack of scoring from others on his team. The Lakers tried to zero in on Vandi, and you saw how that went. JRod and Goofy went crazy. Vandi seems to have better personnel around him, but this matchup will be fun to watch tonight.

Catch Grizz Gaming in action tonight as they take on Celtics Crossover Gaming at 8:00 P.M. CT on Twitch (ESports Tab), and on Youtube.
