Coming off of a strong week of TIPOFF Tournament action, Grizz Gaming handled a roller coaster of a week of regular season action well.

Rocky start to the week:

Coming off of a strong TIPOFF Tournament showing, Grizz Gaming met their match on Tuesday night as Memphis would take on the Gen.g Tigers of Shanghai. The Tigers also had a really strong showing in the TIPOFF tournament, making it to the semifinals for a matchup with an undefeated Raptors Uprising team, but would fall in three games.

After starting the series with Gen.G with a promising game one win - a win where Memphis led by 15 plus points throughout game one - a downhill spiral occurred.

In game two, Memphis again led by double digits throughout the gamebut then the third quarter happened. Giving up a third quarter 20 point lead, it was clear that Memphis was playing with fate. Being the defensive team that they are, Memphis got away from making that side of the court a priority and Gen G.’s Shifty took off. In quarters two and three the Tigers outscore the Grizzlies a combined 20 points.

From there, Memphis struggled to recover from a storm that was the Tigers momentum. Gen.g would go on to defeat Memphis in three games following a strong showing in games two and three.

Goofy Remains King of New York:

Grizz Gaming Center Goofy faced his former team on Wednesday night - the New York Knicks. This is a team that Goofy had won an NBA 2K League Championship with in 2018, and was looking to make a statement against on Wednesday.

Following a tough loss the night before, the Grizzlies drug their feet in game one of the Knicks series. Inconsistent defensively had several nervous if this could team could bounce back in games two and three. Memphis, being the team they’ve been all season, would drop game one but take game two and three in commanding fashion.

Oh, and Goofy had a night:

Vandini:

Not only did Goofy have an exccellent, Grizz Gaming’s back court had a fun time in game two and three. Vandi, who had shown his inconsistencies defensively, stepped up in a huge way in game two racking up six steals (season high) along with 43 points. Vandi’s game three was just ridiculous. It was arguably Vandi’s best performance of the season, finishing game three with 43 points, 9 assists, and 9 steals, and earning a nomination for Player of the Week for week 7.

A look ahead:

The Grizz have their bye week this week before playing two games in week nine. The Grizz head into their bye with a 5-5 record, and a chance to be above .500 for the first time this season next week. Memphis will take on Mavs Gaming on July 7th at 6:00 CT.
