Grizz Gaming, coming off of a tough finish to the regular season, entered The Ticket Tournament with new hope, The team would play their first game of 2020 in their main arena inside FedExForum.

A matchup with Lakers Gaming, a team in which they won their first game against in the regular season but also a team they lost some money to as the Lakers knocked the Grizz out of the Turn Tournament a few weeks ago, awaited them.

Game Summary:

Game one started off about as weird as anyone could’ve predicted. Being back in FedExForum, the connection for Grizz Gaming was supposed to be strong, but an odd first quarter disconnect by DDouble had the Lakers and Grizz in a reset. Following that reset, it felt like the Grizz wouldn’t look back.

After trailing by five when the game was disconnected, the Grizz would come out of the gates with great defensive intensity. A guy that had been struggling on both ends of the floor for Memphis - AuthenticAfrican - would be huge for Grizz Gaming in game one. The team got stops defensively, which led to numerous fast break opportunities for the Grizz. Authentic and DDouble would be huge for the Grizz in the first half of game one, as they would lead the Grizzlies in points with 10 a piece.

Holding a 38-31 halftime lead, the squad entered the second half and didn’t let their foot off the gas. Maintaining a double-digit lead on the Lakers, and getting good all-around play from everyone, the Grizz would emerge victorious in game one by a score of 73-64 over the Lakers.

Following that game one, there was no looking back for the Grizz. Once again getting out to a double-digit lead in game two, a game that would be on West Coast serversdidn’t help out the Lakers.

JRod would play a huge role for the Grizzlies coming down the stretch as he seemed make it rain from downtown on Thursday night for the Grizz.

The Grizz would take game two in blow out fashion, building momentum towards a quick turnaround for round two - a round in which the Grizz will take on Knicks Gaming on Friday night.

From the top down, the Grizz did not disappoint Thursday night. Grizz Gaming Point Guard Vandi played two well-orchestrated games for Memphis. Despite not scoring a ton, Vandi was able to open the floor up for his wings to hit their shots. DDouble, Authentic, and JRod all had excellent showings for the Grizz.

Round Two:

The Grizzlies survive for another night and advance to round two of the Ticket Tournament that will take place on Friday night against Knicks Gaming. While the time of the tip is unknown as of this writing, the Grizz swept the Knicks in their only matchup in the regular season. Grizz Gaming is one step close towards punching their ticket to the NBA2K League Playoffs.
