As Tyler Herro lit up the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals for 37 points, it crossed my mind that I believe I would take him third if we were to do a re-draft of the 2019 NBA draft. Another thought occurred to me: the 2019 draft has proven to be one of the deepest in recent memory, with players beyond the top tier of Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, and Tyler Herro proving to be instant contributors on playoff teams.
On this week’s edition of the Core Four, Parker and I were joined by Grizzly Bear Blues senior staff writer and host of the 3 and D podcast Justin Lewis to discuss:
- Tyler Herro’s rise to prominence in the NBA bubble
- Key contributors for other playoff teams from the 2019 NBA draft
- How narratives around different drafts are often overblown
- Breakout prospects to watch for from the 2020 NBA draft
