There were bright spots this week, but most of it dimmed by the postponement of games.

Well, there were bright spots this week... though only one game was played.

The Memphis Grizzlies sealed a national TV win on MLK day, where Ja Morant illustrated his superstar upside more, and Coach Taylor Jenkins got the respect he deserves. In addition, Xavier Tillman continued to prove himself to be another gem in the Grizzlies’ latest collection of assets.

But all that is clouded by the postponement of games on the Memphis Grizzlies side.

The Grizzlies have been stricken by COVID-19, and we won’t see them play for a week. While we all wish and pray for the Grizzlies’ health status to turn around, take a listen to the podcasts on our network.

The Starting 5: The Real Z-Bound

On this week’s episode of the “Starting 5” podcast, the guys remind the NBA Twitter account about who the Z-Bound nickname belongs to, review the previous week of games, give our star of the week, and preview this weeks’ slate starting with MLK Day.

3 & D: MLK Day Win, De’Anthony Melton and Grizz Stock Watch

Two new weekly segments come to the show as Justin Lewis and Ben Hogan do a weekly stock watch related to the Grizzlies and giving some betting tips for the week to come. They also discuss takeaways from the Phoenix win, including the mysterious disappearance of De’Anthony Melton.

The Core 4: Giving Taylor Jenkins his flowers, Xavier Tillman rocks

Nathan Chester and I discuss:

  • Coach Jenkins driving this strong early start
  • Can he win a Coach of the Year at some point
  • Xavier Tillman’s been a really good rookie
  • Preview against Portland this week (sigh - listen for entertainment purposes)

GBBLive: Social media in Memphis, Melton’s minutes, Grizzlies games deferred

On this episode of GBBLive, the guys talk Memphis Grizzlies with a veteran of the “blog wars” and an all-around great Grizzlies mind in Fox Sports Grizzlies social media correspondent Phillip Dean. Joe and Parker talk with Phillip about the rotation, the lack of games in the short term perhaps being best long-term, and which Grizzlies player they are most excited to see make their season debut.
