First Quarter:
The Grizzlies offense got off to a nice start, given the pieces missing Wednesday night. Sam Merrill and John Konchar led the Grizzlies offense through quite a defensive first quarter. A first quarter where Memphis’ offense would stall midway through the quarter, Indiana would go on quite a run to take over the lead. The Pacers led the Grizzlies 28-22 at the end of one quarter in Indiana.
Second Quarter:
Despite a slow first quarter, Grizzlies first round draft pick Ziaire Williams activity on both ends of the floor is infectious. So infectious, that he can have a slow offensive quarter, and bounce back with a double-digit quarter. Williams was active on the defensive end, and tallied 13 first half points for Memphis. Grizzlies point guard Sam Merrill, who got the start tonight, came out of the gates scorching hot from beyond the arc. Merrill tallied 15 first half points for Memphis as they held a 57-52 lead over Indiana at the half.

Third Quarter:
The third quarter could be classified as a back and fourth affair between Indiana and Memphis. The Pacers made a solid run towards the end of the third quarter to retake the lead at 84-83, and then John Konchar happened. In the final 1:34, Memphis went on a 7-0 run to re-take their lead at 90-84 heading to the fourth. Konchar had 16 points heading to the fourth quarter for Memphis.
Fourth Quarter:
For a team that would be so short-handed, the Grizzlies fought the Pacers tooth and nail. The Pacers played their starters in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s game, and that is what would move the needle on Wednesday night. A Jeremy Lamb step-back jumper in the closing seconds would give the Indiana Pacers the 109-107 victory over Memphis.
Final Stats:
Sam Merrill - 30 points, 8/13 3PT
John Konchar - 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists
Ziaire Williams - 19 points, 5 rebounds, 7/7 FT
The Grizzlies will be back in action as they wrap up preseason action against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night.
