I am jazzed to bringing you a March Grizzlies prediction post. Speaking of “Jazz,” the Grizzlies will be facing Utah’s team three times in the month of March, including in a back-to-back on the road. That captures the tone of the Grizzlies’ March schedule. This month will certainly be a tough test for the young team, who have had to remain fluid despite both COVID and injury-related setbacks. Notwithstanding the obstacles, there have been many performance highs to keep the fans engaged and optimistic.
And then the second half of the schedule was released. We play 15 games in March, which includes playing 10 different teams. As of February 28th (prior to Sunday’s games), half the 10 teams have records above .500 and half of the teams are below that threshold. The Grizzlies themselves are hovering right under at that mark 14-15. I predict the Memphis Grizzlies to go 6-9 in March.
With what confidence do I stand by these predictions? Jaren Jackson Jr. could return and alter the the dynamics. The unpredictable cadence of load management and COVID-related absences could increase the odds of additional wins. The moral of the story is that this post could be very wrong, and the Grizzlies could collect more wins than predicted here. But a lot of things would have to go right consistently in a season that could scarcely be described as consistent.
