The Memphis Grizzlies came in to Wednesday night’s primetime matchup against the Dallas Mavericks looking to gain some ground on the seventh seed in the West. It was also an opportunity to build momentum before heading out on a seven game road trip. Could the Grizzlies take down the Mavericks at FedEx Forum?

First Quarter:

The Grizzlies and Mavericks took off out of the gates at FedEx Forum. Grayson Allen continued his hot streak in first quarters, scoring 12 straight points at one point for the Grizzlies. Allen would lead all scorers after the first quarter in Memphis with 14 first quarter points.

The Grizzlies bench unit came in and countered all of the Mavericks scores with scoring of their own. The Grizzlies didn’t get as many stops as they would’ve liked, but shot the ball well in the first quarter, and led Dallas 34-32 at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter:

The Memphis Grizzlies continued their up-tempo approach from the first quarter, as the Grizzlies continued their assault from deep in the first half. The Grizzlies shot 8/15 from deep in the first half as four different Grizzlies drilled three’s.

Everyone on the roster did their job well in the first half, and that is what you need against a very solid team in Dallas. The Grizzlies only turned the ball over two times in the first half, and led the Mavericks 60-57 at the break at FedEx Forum.

Third Quarter:

A really solid third quarter by the Grizzlies, as they continued to push tempo and find really good shots. Eight fast-break buckets by the Grizzlies in that third quarter, and only one turnover is as efficient as it gets.

Memphis played clean basketball, and Jonas Valanciunas started to wake up on the boards in the third as well. Getting several second chance opportunities for Memphis, and the Grizzlies bench continued their push as one of the best in the NBA, The Grizzlies led the Mavericks 89-83 heading to the fourth in Memphis.

Fourth Quarter:

The Dallas Mavericks made a run to start the fourth quarter, that would eventually tie things up in Memphis at 104 a piece. A Luka Doncic Hail Mary for three at the buzzer would seal the game with the Mavericks taking down the Grizzlies 114-113 at FedEx Forum.

The Grizzlies will be back in action on Friday night as they begin a very tough seven game road trip in Chicago against the Bulls.
