HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN: The NBA 2K League’s Twitch Channel (Twitch.tv/NBA2KLeague)

Following a 1-3 week five showing from Grizz Gaming, the Grizz still sit in excellent condition heading into week six, which begins tonight. The boys in Beale Street Blue will take on Hornets Venom tonight, whom sit tied for second in the Eastern Conference at 10-4 with the Grizz. Then, take on an 8-6 Magic Gaming team that will be hungry to bounce back from a rough start to their season.

The Grizz sit in this excellent spot due to their fantastic start, and following that 1-3 showing in week five, this Grizz Gaming team will need to show resiliency in both their matchups. Obviously, I expect to see some changes from the Grizz, and every other 2K League team, as teams had a week off to take a break, but also watch film. How do the Grizz retake their spot atop the Eastern Conference in week six?

In-Game Adjustments:

Facing a Hornets Venom team that has five guys that can score on any given possession, Memphis will have to stay composed defensively, and talk out switches. A guy like Sherm for Hornets Venom that can assist the ball like few in the 2K League, while limiting the turnovers will be quite the test for the Grizz defense.

How the Grizz guard the high pick n’ roll with PeteBeBall and Sherm, then putting pressure on Sherm to make a play off that, will be huge. Dhuggzz hasn’t shot the ball well for Hornets this season, so potentially forcing Sherm to throw it to Dhuggzz corner to hit shots is the goal, or should be. If Dhuggzz hits those shots, tip the cap and get back on offense.

Authentic African vs. PeteBeBallin:

Authentic African is having such a great season for the Grizz, and if you’re Memphis, you have to utilize him more in offensive sets. Double-A is like a secondary point guard, and can find the open man off the pick n’ roll with Vandi.

Authentic has dominated the boards this season, and has been highly efficient for the Grizz, but his usage has gone down over the last four games, so look for the Grizz to get Authentic involved early and often.

Bounce Back Week:

Grizz Gaming needs a 4-1 week six to get themselves back into the top two, and this bye week came at the perfect time. The time off has given them the chance to make adjustments on both ends of the floor. I think that the Grizz can split the Hornets series, and then sweep the Magic Gaming team on Friday night with their defense alone. An offensive avalanche will be needed in one of those games against Hornets Venom, as they score a lot of points.

Grizz Gaming takes on Hornets Venom tonight at 6:00 and 7:00 on the NBA 2K League Twitch account. Then, Friday night at 8:00 and 9:00 P.M. against Magic Gaming.
